Erika Napoletano lays it out, no holds barred:

…I get that life sucks sometimes. I understand the cold, lonely abyss that a heart and mind can fall into. Hell, if you bought a ticket to my heart and dreams lately, you’d think you were seeing a much better made version of Saw 2.

So don’t hand me comments about how I don’t get it. How your situation is different. How it’s someone else’s fault. Own up to the fact that everything you want in your life and business (save the heartbreaking bullshit that the universe hands us that’s unfair, inexplicable and rapes your soul) is yours for the taking. And I’m going to tell you the six reasons why your business (and maybe your life) are bullshit.

Reason #1: “I don’t make enough money!”

This one is precious. Because recently, I had the gift of knowing someone who did whatever it took to earn a living. Making new connections, taking a part-time job. You’d never know unless you asked him. And if you asked him, he told you why. If you need to make more money, make it happen. I guarantee that every day, you walk into at least one establishment with a “Help Wanted” sign in the window. And for the record — it’s the holiday season. EVERYBODY is hiring.

Shorter Rude News

  • Bill O’Reilly suggested that Dana Milbank should be beheaded. Since we agree with him, we have suddenly decided that O’Reilly is not responsible for anything he says. This was all Milbank’s fault.

Republicans are adamant that the economy desperately need to give millionaires low taxes, lest they stop buying ancient art and taking foreign vacations, but unemployed people spending money on bread and rent is unaffordable and unnecessary. Keynesianism for chumps.

Hey you!

Yeah, you! The teabagger who’s screaming at the top of your pasty little lungs about “repealing Obamacare”!

This is the world you want us all to live in:

Alisa Wilson, 37, died Friday at 8:50 p.m. after a lengthy battle with an undisclosed liver disease, said her father, Eric Wilson.

“Her liver was gone,” Wilson said. “There was no more left. She needed that transplant two weeks ago.”

In her final days, the Wilsons desperately reached out to the media and health-law attorneys to get her approved for a transplant.

Over the summer, she was turned down several times by her insurer, a Medicaid reform HMO run by Sunshine State Health.

The family switched her to traditional “fee-for-service” Medicaid because the local transplant center at Mayo Clinic Florida doesn’t typically accept Medicaid HMOs.

Like many Medicaid recipients in Duval County, Wilson was required to join a private plan as part of a Gov. Jeb Bush-era experimental overhaul of the program.

(emphasis mine)

Yeah, asshole. That’s what you are trying to do to the rest of us: condemn us all to live in a world where private insurers — for-profit corporations — decide whether we get life-saving transplants and other medical procedures.

Be careful what you wish for, morons.

[C]onservatives deploy racially tinged rhetoric against liberal policy priorities and Democratic politicians, and that Obama being president has a lot to do with these arguments being used. Rush Limbaugh wouldn’t be comparing him to gang members if he weren’t black.

Sadly, the United States is chockablock with idiots like this woman. Even sadder, they are allowed out on the streets and into voting booths.

The fact is that the Republicans are not just irresponsible stewards of the economy, they are at the moment, totally batshit insane.

Has anyone noticed that the same right-wing zealots who see nothing at all wrong with instituting racial profiling at airports (allegedly to keep us safe from “them”) are clutching their pearls and screaming their silly heads off about the TSA scanners and pat-downs?

Doesn’t it seem like there is no “security measure” the right isn’t all in favor of — until it inconveniences white folk?
