Jeff Schreiber is again [REDACTED] to his readers

Well, he’s at it again. Jeff Schreiber has chosen to make a career out of being a serial misinformer, like so many wingnut bloggers. He’s busy increasing the noise-to-signal ratio in the debate over health care reform:

Not a single time has reconciliation been used to pass the biggest entitlement program in this nation’s history, or even anything close to its size.

Schreiber’s claim that reconciliation has never been used to pass anything that would cost as much as health care reform is a flat out [REDACTED]. The Republicans used reconciliation to pass multiple tax cuts in recent years — including Bush’s 2001 tax cut package, which cost approximately $1.3 trillion in revenues.

What will health care reform cost? Last year, the Congressional Budget Office estimated that the provisions of the House health care reform bill would decrease the deficit by $138 billion through 2019. The Senate bill scored almost as well, with an estimated deficit reduction of $132 billion through 2019.

Some people choose to [REDACTED] so often that they lose the ability to have an honest discussion. It’s quite clear now that Jeff Schreiber is one of these unfortunate Münchhausens.

  1. Hey, Meat.
You and I need to have a serious talk.

  2. If Jeff Schreiber has something to say, he is more than welcome to post his thoughts here in the comment section.

I will note here and now that I consider any and all emails I may receive from wingnuts to be perfectly acceptable as blog fodder.

  3. E-mail sent.  Publish it if you like.

  4. Jeff Schreiber has more truth in his little finger than you ever dreamed of having.  He didn’t say that there was nothing as large as this health care bill that ever got done by reconciliation.   He said ENTITLEMENT this big.

Tax cuts were to stimulate the economy—which they did.

Wake up and smell the stench in D.C., Meat Head.  They don’t give a rat’s rosterium about our health; they want control over our lives and one-sixth of our economy.

If the American people wanted it, do you think that we would have gone to town hall meetings against it, to Tea Parties against it, marched on Washington against it, and elected Scott Brown in Massachusetts (who is against it)?  Try using your head.

  5. “Meatbrain” is an apt moniker for someone who doesn’t know the difference between a tax reduction and a spending bill. A tax cut doesn’t “cost” the government anything because the revenue never belonged to the “government” in the first place, whereas a spending bill “costs” the taxpayer because the money was theirs to begin with.

    Jeeze, man – wise up.

    Bob

  6. Typical so-called ‘liberal’....when things begin to bad, resort to ridicule and name-calling.  Oh, and accuse people of racism.  That’s always a classic.

I’d offer to have an intellectual discussion with you (Jeff was far and away too nice), but I only fight (oh, darn…I exposed myself…I’m just a battle-ax weilding conservative) fair.  You’d be shockingly short of ammunition.

Now, if my little, weak, meat-filled response doesn’t bother you…and it shouldn’t, because you have a superior intellect…then refrain from responding.

    But I guarantee you will.

By the way…how do you feel about the abstract notion of growth, in any form?  That’d be a great discussion for us to have some time.  Then again, maybe not…I really don’t like you.

    Cheers.

  7. He didn’t say that there was nothing as large as this health care bill that ever got done by reconciliation. He said ENTITLEMENT this big.

False. Pay attention to the whole sentence:

Not a single time has reconciliation been used to pass the biggest entitlement program in this nation’s history, or even anything close to its size.

Reading comprehension is a bitch, ain’t it?

  8. A tax cut doesn’t “cost” the government anything because the revenue never belonged to the “government” in the first place, whereas a spending bill “costs” the taxpayer because the money was theirs to begin with.

So, when you lose your job, it costs you nothing. Those paychecks you’re not getting were never yours in the first place.

Thanks for clearing that up, Sparky.

  9. Now, if my little, weak, meat-filled response doesn’t bother you…and it shouldn’t, because you have a superior intellect…then refrain from responding.

I’ve never claimed to have a superior intellect. What I do have is facts. Schreiber has none, and thus resorts to legal threats and tantrums.

By the way…how do you feel about the abstract notion of growth, in any form?

Growth in any form? Not too crazy about it. Cancer, after all, is an uncontrolled growth of cells.

If you are referring to growth in the economic sense, I think it’s great — when done responsibly, and without exploiting those whose labor makes said growth possible.

That’d be a great discussion for us to have some time. Then again, maybe not…I really don’t like you.

Oddly enough, I can’t seem to give a flying rat’s ass whether you like me or not. I’m not here to be liked. I’m here to expose the lies and intellectual cowardice of the wingnuts of the right.

    Thanks for lending a hand.

  10. My goodness…you’re just too intelligent for me.  I’ll be sure to defer to you when it comes to all  matters of cultural significance.

But, as I said…you did respond.

Growth in all of its forms, however, does not refer to malignant tumors…you know, like yourself.  Let me be more specific for you…get your crayons ready…write this down.

How about, in addition to economic growth, we talk about just human life itself?  How about spiritual growth?  How about maturity, as it comes from life experiences?  Let’s see, now, which one of us is more equipped to handle life on his own without having a ‘paternal government’ stand over it so that it can tell me what is right and wrong?  Clearly, I never learned those lessons.  I have chosen to forcibly impose my will on the disaffected and disenfranchised because I’m just a big, bad, bully.  Yessir.

In fact, my friend, I live my life by more or less keeping to myself, taking care of my family, doing my best at my job, and – believe it or not – getting along with everyone with whom I work.  I realize that such a notion is a quantum stretch for you.  I attend church each Sunday with my family.  Isn’t it quaint?  Gosh, we’re just straight out of a Leave it to Beaver episode, we’re just do gosh-darned perfect.  We even do commercials for toothpaste.  You should see how white our teeth are and the perfect smiles we all have.

By the way…how’s your relationship with your parents?  Sorry if I struck just a bit too close to the proverbial bone with that one.

See, Angryman, I have no agenda with anyone or any group.  I just want to be left alone (which, I realize, makes me a selfish, rotten conservative, since I object to psychologically-impaired people like you knocking on my door to inform me that they’re homosexual.  That’s fine with me – just keep it out of my house.  Of course, this makes me homophobic, too.  This would be hilarious if it weren’t so dangerous) , and l help people out when I can.  Are there those less fortunate in the world than I?  Absolutely.  Unfortunately, I don’t possess the pecuniary ability to make everything better for all of them at one felled swoop.  Someone like, mmm, maybe..oh, let me be silly for a moment – maybe someone, like, say George Soros could make everything better for them.  I know…that’s just crazy.

Want universal healthcare for everyone?  I can solve it right now, because I use common sense and math….which, of course, means that I’m catching you at a decided disadvantage.  I apologize.  But here goes –
1)Drop inter-state regulations against purchasing health insurance, in order to increase competition and lower costs (which must be a mathematical myth, I suppose, and naturally, we can’t have anything as ‘evil’ as competition, even though it helps everyone in the end)

    2) TORT  reform, but of course, I’m sure that you’re much more concerned with the pockets of the wealthy lawyers…but wait – isn’t that what you’re supposed to be against?  I’m really confused.

    3) re-work existing union contracts so that union members do not get free blue cross for life, for heaven’s sake…now that’s not too much of a drain on the system, is it?  But, I know, I know…they’re in a union, so they’re okay.  Even if they make outrageous salaries and take home 80-90% of their annual income in their pensions.  They’re better people than the restl of us.

As I said, though, you’re waaaaayyyyy too intelligent for me.

    Cheers.

  11. John Feeny, yesterday:

Typical so-called ‘liberal’....when things begin to bad, resort to ridicule and name-calling.

    John Feeny, today:

Growth in all of its forms, however, does not refer to malignant tumors…you know, like yourself.

    Francois de La Rochefoucauld:

Hypocrisy is the homage vice pays to virtue.

  12. Yea, but I call names in a really classy, dignified way.

    Cheers.

  13. Oh, and by the way…I can only assume that you’re prparing to refute my ‘crazy’ conservative thinking.

    Take your time.

    Cheers.

  14. You’re also apparently afraid to post my thoughts…wait…censorship???
From a lLiberal?  Perhaps you should view your ‘dignified and highly-educated’ quotation on hypocrisy from a more self-effacing perspective, no?

  15. You’re also apparently afraid to post my thoughts…wait…censorship???

If Feeny is unfamiliar with the concepts of comment moderation and false positives in a spam filter, I am certain he will have no trouble finding a bright twelve-year-old who can explain them.

As for his conservative “thinking” — naaah. Feeny did just a blatantly obvious job of hurling straw men in every conceivable direction that there’s really no need to do anything more to discredit him. Besides, he has already made crystal clear his utter disinterest in having an actual discussion.
