Separated at birth?

Calla Wiemer in the Far Eastern Economic Review, writing on the recent Uighur unrest in China::

China’s ethnic-minority problems are deeply rooted, and resolving them will require change of a systemic nature. China is not a society that embraces pluralism. Difference is seen as a threat and little quarter is given to alternative points of view or ways of life.

Hmmmm, seems like the Chinese have a lot in common with American far-right wingnuts in this respect. No wonder we’re seeing the spectacle of a right-wing pundit cheering on the Communist suppression of the Uighurs.
