Amazing. ‘HoosierArmyMom’ Judy Doucette has posted a graphic that shows an image of Al Gore, with the caption “He invented the Internet just so you could be indoctrinated about global warming”.

This is how the wingnuts spread their ignorance, folks: by repeating the same long-discredited lies over and over again, hoping that sheer repetition will magically turn their fairy tales into truth.

UPDATE 12/17/08 3:12 PM EST: Well, golly, what a surprise. When caught in a lie, Judykins falls back on the hoary old it’s-just-a-joke dodge.

No, Judykins. A lie is a lie is a lie — and you’ve been caught deliberately spreading a lie. You’ve given away the game by repeating the lie: ”…we all know Al lied when he claimed to invent the internet…”.

    I don’t know if you’ve looked lately, but all of the archetypal shitbirds have flapped and fluttered their way into the thread and are now madly pecking away, facts be damned: Gribbit, cao, Kat, Ogre, etc. No one has told them that ten ignorant people screaming lies and bullshit is no more persuasive than one of them doing it; it’s merely louder.

    Highlights include Gribbit claiming “evolution is only a theory,” supplying a private definition of “theory,” and asserting that evolution fails on account of a “missing link” scientists haven’t been able to find; some incredibly illegible output from WhoseYerAngryMob herself; and the usual flinging out of already answered and ill-founded questions about global warming along with “debunkings” served from sites with names like “Moonbattery.” I don’t think a single one of these people could win on Saturday Night Live’s version of Celebrity Jeopardy—they make the blindingly daft Sean Connery character look like a genius in comparison.

    Yes, I’ve seen the crapfest that the marching morons have ginned up over there. I am sure there are more pitiful demonstrations of collective ignorance out on the net, but I’m damned if I know where.

    The simple truth is that these people are ineducable. Any solutions we find to the problems facing our society and our civilization will have to be found in spite of these happy ignorami, with the more vocal of them working actively against the efforts to find said solutions.

    And now I see Judy has deleted the thread. I didn’t get a chance to read any of the 4 or 5 comments that were posted after my last one, but when an illiterate right-wing fuckwit deletes a topic wholesale owing to the marauding of her coterie of cranks and shitbirds, it is anything but surprising.
