The wingnuts are out in force, expressing their eagerness to continue spreading hatred and discord.
Robert at American and Proud:
I will not be calling Obama MY president,I will refer to Obama as the chimp in charge, I will use the term fascist/socialist and terrorist when speaking of B. Hussein Obama.
Notice the overt racism. Nothing like a little setback to prompt a wingnut to show his true colors, is there?
Raven at And Rightly So:
It appears, from early results, that Barry Hussein will be the next leader of our country. (note, I will NOT ever refer to him as my President)… One thing about this election: The alcohol business will see a boom! From people like ME!
Things don’t go the way Raven would like, and her answer is to get drunk. That’s pretty typical of the extreme self-centeredness one finds among the wingnuts.
“Emperor” Misha at Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler:
Welcome to the jungle. You’re now behind enemy lines with all odds against you, everyone is a potential enemy and you’re facing a long, uphill, seemingly hopeless battle.
That’s right, folks. Dare to disagree with Misha, and you’re an enemy. One wonders who this morally bereft murder-lover is going to target first.
I swore to protect this country against all enemies foreign and domestic and I believe that Barack Obama is a domestic enemy.
Big Dogshit is no better than Misha. Wingnuts need an enemy — they exist only to hate.
Cao (better known round these parts as Lizard Bitch):
My advice? Make sure you have guns in the house.
In response to an Obama victory , the first thing — the only thing — that Cao can think of is violence. She is the living embodiment of Asimov’s dictum: “Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.”
I hope you have a pair of running shoes. Seriously. I think the likelihood that we will face more terrorist attacks on our soil has just gone up dramatically, and the difference between life and death may someday come down to your ability to put a couple of miles between yourself and whatever sort of unmitigated **** is coming down around your ears. I know I’ll be putting in a few miles a week, just to maintain my ability to do so.
Shorter Dan Paden: BE AFRAID! BE AFRAID! BE AFRAID! OOGA-BOOGA-BOOGA!
To sum up: The wingnuts will continue to push their ideals of fear, hatred, division, and anger. They know nothing else. They will continue to marginalize themselves — and to be utterly clueless about why they are marginalized.
UPDATE 11/05/08 2:12 PM EST: John Cole has a bang-on commentary on right-wing blogs:
To say they ate their seed corn is to wildly underestimate the damage they have done to their online presence, because if you just ate your seed corn, there would at least be a short-term benefit. More accurately, they chewed up their seed corn, spit it out, stomped on it, defecated on it, then grabbed it and smeared it on their chests to form the words “WHITEY TAPE.” These idiots spent the last six months chasing the whitey tape, questioning his patriotism, calling Obama a Muslim, panty-sniffing for an Obama affair, calling Obama a terrorist and socialist and you name it, and the country shrugged. Any future Republican campaign will need to rely on the “intellectual” arguments of thoroughly discredited propaganda organs like the Weekly Standard and the NRO, and we now have six months worth of their stupidity on file to throw in their faces and discredit them in the future.

I was at the rally last night in Grant Park. It was a truly humbling experience that I am still trying to completely take in. It didn’t have so much to do with Obama himself as it did the crowd that was there and the energy that it created. Having seen that crowd first hand I feel very good about how real people feel about this election and not the virtual political world that exists on the internet. I think one of the many mandates of the Obama win is that people are done with the type of politics pointed out in your post. The McCain/Palin campaign ran on that platform and it not only failed, it failed miserably. I thought John McCain’s concession speech was honest, real, and appropriate. I was happy to see the man I have respected in the past back.
For those that want to continue with the fear and hate, I will share one of my favorite religious quotes:
“You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger.” -Buddha

Hey Meaty, you owe me a new keyboard after quoting that line right there. With the Media issued their own Obama Campaign kneepads so that they could be more comfortable servicing… er.. the campaign, the hubris, and the inattention to the irony, of that statement, to call them “propaganda organs”, I pretty much spit out my evening coffee.
However, your candidate did win. And congratulations go to Senator Obama for an excellently ran campaign, and for becoming president-elect.
Time will only tell if he was the wise decision, and I hope, for the sake of the country, and our children, that President-elect Obama himself makes the wise decisions. In fact, with Speaker Pelosi’s agenda, Obama might even become the voice of reason for the next two years….

Yeah overt racism by Robert… You fuckheads called GWB Chimp in charge and much worse… Well enough for now, when Obama takes over I will be here more often, see I am going to be as annoying and rude as you were for the last 8 years and I am going to show how it’s done..
See I believe in doing things right.. Have a great day.
-
Fuck you asshole. You call it racism when someone calls him a chimp but it was OK for 8 years for you shitheads to call Bush a chimp?
Fuck you and fuck the bastards who live with double standards.
We can call this punk what we want and when we want. It is time people started treating him like you all treated the last guy.
Dickhead.

No. McCain failed because he never met a conservative he didn’t want to stab in the back. The Republicans ran a Democrat as their Presidential candidate and… Surprise, the base refused to vote. I can speak for myself when I say, I DID NOT VOTE FOR MCCAIN. I refused to. There was no clear reason to vote FOR McCain. They banked on conservatives being to scared not to vote against Obama, but they forgot that we don’t take well to being coerced. The end result was, conservatives such as myself refusing to vote for a Democrat in Republican clothing. That is why McCain lost.

Fiar | Conservative Humor,
You forgot the large number of Republicans that voted FOR Obama. While you might not consider them conservatives, they are people and they do vote. Their votes obviously count. I think you need to rethink your reasons why your conservatives couldn’t even win a nomination this cycle.
