You know, meaty, I’ve ignored you for quite a long time, and I know I’m going to regret commenting here, but, sigh whatever. So, I’ll say my piece and return to giving you the lack of attention you deserve.

I’ve known Kender for three years now. I spoken with him, I’ve snarked with him, I’ve slapped him upside the head and called him to task. I’ve been encouraged by him, I’ve gotten a call from him at just the right time to lift my spirits, and he’s come alongside me to support and inspire me. I don’t always agree with him, and I find that he sometimes is a bit too crude for me, but he has always – ALWAYS – been there for me. We have a history of solid friendship. In other words, I actually KNOW him.

Now, I know that he enjoys kicking you around as a light appetizer before he goes hunting more worthy game, so I realize you are hardly friends, much less friendly.

But I find it interesting that you think you can discern the actual motives of someone with whom you only interact in one dimension. Neither of you have ever sat down together to have a non-confrontational discussion, or a beer, or a good meal. You’ve never talked on the phone with Kender, you’ve never joked with him in private, you’ve never seen or experienced the myriad kindnesses that he showers upon his friends.

You see only one dimension, and refuse to acknowledge that NONE of us are only our blog-personas.

If you were in the same situation as Kender, neither Cao, nor I, nor – I suspect – Kender would mock you and call you a charlatan. We probably wouldn’t donate to you, since we don’t KNOW you as we know each other, and therefore couldn’t assess your motivations properly. But we wouldn’t call you a liar and a cheat. We would probably give you the benefit of the doubt – I certainly would – and remain quiet. Your friends, after all, would surely rally ‘round you, as Kender’s are to him.

Of course, none of this will change your mind, I’m sure, and I’m equally sure you’ll respond with some “oh, look at the ignorant and gullible Kat” remark… That’s fine; your blog, your rules.

But this post was an appalling example of execrable taste.

Having lost a wife to a heart attack brought on by asthma many years ago, I know the know first hand the despair and the irrational thinking that despair can bring on. I don’t know that I was “suicidal” but I do believe that had a bus been barreling down on my I very well might not have stepped out of the way. Pulling back from the brink is one of the more difficult things to do that any person in despair will ever have to face.

As to the bleg, you may not be aware, but there are very strict limits on income if you are on Medi-Cal and being on Medi-Cal was the only way Kender could survive after two failed kidney transplants. That means that in order to continue to live as independently as possible, he had to move from his former abode and relocate. That takes money, so a bunch of us got him to put up the bleg and many of us pitched in too, not only with funds, but on our own blogs as well. Lastly, I’m curious as to this comment you made: “Yes, by all means, go and give your hard-earned money to a racist lying coward. Certainly this miserable failure that calls itself Kender has no talent for earning its own living.” Does that mean that you will support the down and out ONLY when they agree with you? Funny, when I designated my organs for transplant, when my first wife DONATED her organs for transplant and when I give blood at the UBS, I never check to make sure the recipients agree with me in any way, political or otherwise.

Again, let me point out that the bleg is manipulative ONLY if that was a mock suicide note and there is absolutely no way you could know one way or the other if it was. Those of us who have known Kender for a long time have known him to have had two failed kidney transplants and you would NEVER want to die of uremic poisoning meatbrain, never!

Hey meathead, the other day I was enjoying an old classic series,. Spellsinger, you may have heard of it, written by a guy name Alan Dean Foster (sure, you’ve heard of him, one in a LONG list of talented writers who leave you for DEAD every time…)

This reminds me of the scene between Jon-Tom and Markus the Ineluctable ( Meaty,you REALLY should read them, the books are terrific and I know you’d learn a LOT from someone who knows how to be a successful science fiction writer..)

I was surprised to learn, when I followed your link to Cao’s page that Kender, the dumbest man on the Internet, is enrolled in some sort of government-run health care and that he can’t work (or was it ‘can’t make too much money’?) or he’d lose his government health insurance. Stupid me, I assumed he was a conservative, and not some dork sucking on the government teat, so I mistakenly thought he’d WANT to get a job and private health insurance to show us liberals how independent and rugged he was.

I guess that’s not the case.

For the record, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with government health care (I have used Universal Health Care in Japan before and thought it was great), but only an disingenuous ass like Kender would go around screaming that people who support Universal Health Care are communists while he himself is living off the taxpayers.
