The Palin pregnancy kerfluffle

John Scalzi gets it exactly right:

…[L]et’s not pretend that if, say, Joe Biden’s daughter were teenage, unmarried and pregnant at the moment, that the right wing noise machine would not be shitting itself blind with glee at the fact, proclaiming with gravity about how these are just the sort of terrible consequences that liberal beliefs lead to and intoning solemnly behind barely stifed grins about how it actually is relevant to the election and should be discussed, publicly and at length, over and over and over again.

…Yes, Governor Palin, your daughter is pregnant, and I respect her choice as well as the fact that she has a choice to have her child, and her right to privacy while she deals with the choices she’s made. Her choices, however, do not excuse you from having to explain your own, at least as they regard how they will affect the choices other women will be able to make about their own bodies, should you get into office.

    Apparently you are not listening to your messiah meathead.

    If you missed it, then you are putting your head in the sand again. When the hubbaloo first came out about Palins daughter being pregnant Obama issued a statement saying that the family was off limits to criticism and instead he was going to focus on issues.

    Issues meathead.

    Your obamasiah has spoken, research it. Might do you some good to actually seek facts out on your own instead of having them spoonfed to you by your handlers in the dhimmicrat party.

    Tell….. us….. exactly..... what….. Obama….. said….. about….. Palin’s….. daughter.

    Of course, even if he should suddenly sprout a few new brain cells and comprehend what I’ve said, it is most unlikely that PW will suddenly grow the cojones necessary to perform this simple task.

    PW doesn’t know what Obama said. Its original argument was based on ignorance — and now it discovers, too late, and it is also too damned ignorant and lazy to go and find the facts.

    Oh, lookie. PW is too gutless to actually quote Obama. Fine. Since he seems lacking in the ability to do so, I will step and charitably handle this overwhelming task for him:

    MONROE, Michigan (CNN)—Sen. Barack Obama said firmly that families are off-limits in the campaign for president, reacting to news that GOP running mate Sarah Palin’s 17-year-old daughter is pregnant.

    “Let me be as clear as possible,” Obama said. “I think people’s families are off-limits, and people’s children are especially off-limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin’s performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president.”

    Obama said reporters should “back off these kinds of stories” and noted that he was born to an 18-year-old mother.

    “How a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be the topic of our politics, and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that’s off-limits.”

    Now, PW originally complained that I posted an excerpt from John Scalzi in which Scalzi agrees with Obama:

    ...I respect [Palin’s daughter’s] choice as well as the fact that she has a choice to have her child, and her right to privacy while she deals with the choices she’s made.

    Given that Scalzi clearly favors leaving any personal decisions made by Bristol Palin out of anyone’s campaign rhetoric, perhaps PW can now explain clearly just what it is that he is whining about.

    Actually, PW has proven something very different: When it is faced with a hard question — one that requires actually explaining the basis for its “argument” — PW ignores the question entirely, screeches that it is victorious, and crawls away.

    I thank PW for its cooperation in this demonstration of its intellectual cowardice.
