We’ve known for several days that the McCain campaign has been spreading a lie about Obama’s canceled trip to a military hospital in Germany. McCain himself went on Larry King Live on Monday evening and stated unequivocally:
I know that, according to reports, that he wanted to bring media people and cameras and his campaign staffers.
But now the McCain campaign has confirmed that the accusation was untrue.
So, can someone explain to me why anyone should consider voting for John McCain, proven liar?
-
Because he’s not a nanny-state, messianic, flip-flopping, lying, America-hating, Stalinist weasel?
He’s just a lying, mildly-statist, thieving weasel.
Kinda like choosing to be shot in the head rather than being tortured to death. The end product’s the same, the journey is just marginally more pleasant.

McCain not a flip flopper? Have you been under a rock for the past several years? Here’s the most exhaustive list of McCain’s flip flops on everything from taxes, to the war, to his stand on torture, his stance on lobbyists in his campaign, etc.:

Care to back up your assertions regarding Obama or is this one of those times wingnuts will claim to be ‘joking’ because they didn’t expect to be asked for, you know, actual evidence?

Yah, I left out flip-flopper for McCain – I lived in AZ for 11 years with him as Senator. shudders I don’t think he’s as BAD a flip-flopper as Obama however. Not that it matters. They’re both examples of some of the worst that politicians can be. McCain’s sort of a ‘Democrat Lite’. He’s surely no Republican. See my final statement. ‘Better’ is relative. And has my brother says, “When you vote for the lesser of two evils, you’re still voting for evil.”
As to Obama, go use any decent search engine. I’ve pretty much given up posting links, quotes, or any other sort of proof here, much as I’ve pretty much given up expecting any sort of discussion here even when I bend over backwards. shrugs
- Nanny Stater? Look at his record. Look at his campaign’s stated positions.
- Messianic? Look at his own statements, attitudes, and the media coverage including the covers of Rolling Stone, Time, and even the jokes in Doonesbury. Chris Matthews, anyone?
- Lying? He’s a politician. He’s from Chicago. He’s running for President. QED.
- America-Hating? Look at who he associates with and his wife’s statements. Could be why he was campaigning in Germany…
- Stalinist? Look at his rhetoric. Look at the behavior of his campaign web site. Look at his record – what little there is of it. Love the housing project.
- Weasel? See “Lying”. Although I admit, most weasels are friendly, fun, and relatively decent animals so I suppose calling a politician a ‘weasel’ is a slur on their entire family…Still, it’s traditional.
I still want a ‘None of the Above’ choice on the ballot. If that wins, there’s a new election and the previous candidates aren’t allowed to run.

Yah, Obama’s record isn’t a fact. The covers of Time, Rolling Stone, the jokes in Doonesbury, and Chris Matthews’ ‘shiver up my leg’ statements are all fantasy.
His associations with terrorists (FARC, Ayers, et. al.) are all made up by Republicans. They aren’t real.
Once again, Meatbrain proves that he is a one-trick pony incapable of any substance, debate, discussion, or rational behavior.
Each to their own, I suppose. Anyway, BJ – As you can probably tell, I’m a a non-fanatic Libertarian, so neither candidate really makes me happy. I was mildly excited by Fred Thompson, although a number of his social positions (e.g. anti-choice) were too conservative for me. But he’s the first candidate I’ve even been mildly interested in since the 1980’s. usually they just make me want to vomit. Pretty much ALL (Clintons, Bushes, Edwards, Kerry, Romney, Huckabee, ALL of ‘em) of them have been disgusting from start to finish.

Orion,
If that’s all of the ‘evidence’ you can muster, then you failed miserably. If you were making a case in court of law, the judge would have thrown you out on your ass and dismissed your case immediately.
Great example of lazy thinking, too. McCain and Obama are ‘both examples of the worst politicians can be’ and you fail to explain of why Obama deserves to be compared to McCain, a man who is the most absentee Senator by far (missed 63% of his votes in the past 1.5 years), has reversed his positions on every major issue I can think of (see the carpet bagger link above for evidence), etc.. If you weren’t so intellectually lazy, you wouldn’t draw such moronic, puerile, 3rd-grade level comparisons. You certainly reinforce the notion that wingnuts are stoopid.
McCain’s absenteeism: http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/110/senate/vote-missers/
Apparently McCain only holds one campaign event a day, too.
Given his absenteeism and his lack of enthusiasm for actually campaigning (instead of whining about not being handed the job), he makes bob dole look like a paragon of industriousness.
Have fun voting for him. It wouldn’t have been any better with any of the other Republican candidates, either. They all stank.

sighs Ah well, another faint hope shot down in flames. I should’ve known better after perusing your blog, I suppose, but hope springs eternal.

McCain’s puerile behavior during the course of this presidential campaign has considerably diminished his status as an elder statesman. Why, my
12-year-old grandson had the good sense not to poke fun at someone’s vacation or choice of where to speak for a political speech when he was 5.Even though I was not in agreement with his policies, I at least had a degree of respect for him. Through his juvenile ads, which are filled with lies, and his avid courting of the hard right in his party, he has forfeited any respect I ever had for him, and that loss of respect is permanent.
