If, like leading wingnut imbecile Jim Hoft, you think that drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) is the panacea for America’s energy woes, you’re simply not paying attention to reality:
McClatchy: Here’re the savings from Arctic drilling — 75 cents a barrel
If Congress were to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, crude oil prices would probably drop by an average of only 75 cents a barrel, according to Department of Energy projections issued Thursday.
The report, which was requested in December by Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, found that oil production in the refuge “is not projected to have a large impact on world oil prices.”
But then, nobody ever accused the wingnuts of basing anything on an understanding of reality.

True. No one thing on the table will solve the energy problems of this nation.
But, like taxes creeping up incrementally till people are ‘suddenly’ outraged at the ‘surprising’ tax burden they are forced to carry, relieving this nation’s energy woes will be solved incrementally as well.
Don’t drill ANWAR; drill ANWAR & the Gulf; plus import refined oil culled from the most plentiful supply of untapped oil on the planet (bigger than the mideast) – Canada’s oil sand – if the obstructionist democratic socialists in congress will remove the ban from those imports from Canada.
Also, build more refineries. The last refinery built in this nation was 30 years ago, yet our demand for fuel oil, gasoline, diesel, and oil based plastics has SKYROCKETTED. It’s simple supply and demand – the demand far outstrips the supply of refined petroleum, yet the do nothing obstructionists twits in congress REFUSE to implement even the tiniest of incremental relief from this energy insanity!
Drill ANWAR? Yes. it’s a start. Also, more nuclear power plants is the obvious step forward to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels which simply enrich the jihadi terrorists.
The longest journey can be accomplished even with baby steps, but the steps must be taken and must start NOW!
