Big Dog’s HIV ignorance

My, my. Big Dog just cannot seem to resist advertising his ignorance … again:

Heterosexual men do not just get HIV and they do not transmit HIV.

Lookie there, guys! If you are heterosexual, you can’t contract AIDS, and you can’t spread it! Wonderful news!

Too bad it’s a complete lie…

AIDS has killed more than 300,000 Americans, and some 750,000 are currently infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. In the first years of the epidemic, deaths were concentrated among gay and bisexual men. But over the past ten years, the incidence of the disease has surged among women – from 6 percent of reported cases in 1985 to 19 percent in 1995. In about half these cases the virus was contracted through heterosexual sex.

In 77 couples, the woman had been infected with HIV at enrollment, and in 97, the male had been the infected partner. The HIV-positive men and women had a median age of 29 and a median viral load of 12,476 copies per mL. By the end of the study, 27% of infected women and 18% of infected men had transmitted the virus to their partners.

The researchers estimate the odds of an HIV-postive male infecting a female partner in an unprotected sexual encounter is about 9 in 10,000.

It’s pretty hilarious, watching Big Dog shoot himself in the foot constantly in matters of fact. I’d encourage him to keep the ignorance coming, but it’s clear that he really doesn’t have any choice in the matter.

Why don’t you put the rest of it in there so they know the context. In addition to what you snipped, I said: Heterosxuals just don’t happen to get sex. They must engage in some high risk behavior (barring of course blood transfusion or accidental exposure in the health care setting)

There is no denying, except in the politically correct world, that HIV and AIDS is prevalent in the homosexual male population. Heterosexual sex is unlikely to result in transmission unless one partner was involved in a high risk behavior one of which is men having sex with men.

That should put it more in context.

That is an absolute fact. Heterosexual sex will not result in AIDS or transmission unless one or both partners has engaged in high risk behavior.

A completely monogamous heterosexual relationship will not result in AIDS (barring blood transfusion).

Your sources say that women contracted the disease from Heterosexual sex but it fails to indicate what risky behavior the partner had engaged in.

Dan, will you scold him for using a source from 1997?

This is from the CDC:
During 1999 – 2002, approximately 64% of heterosexually acquired HIV infections reported in the United States occurred in females. The proportion of infected females was highest among persons aged 13—19 years, consistent with a previous finding (5). Survey data suggest that females in this age group engage in behaviors that place them at increased risk for acquiring HIV infections

Check out his link from 1988 he used to prove that when it comes to aids you only really have to worry about LGBT folks.

Any explanation as to why you deleted all the comments that were on this thread? You constantly say that those you go after are pulling things down and changing them (your justification for taking screen shots) and now you have deleted a large number of comments from this post.

Folks, if you want to know the entire story go to my website (linked above) and read the entire post and thread of comments, none of which have been deleted.

I think there were over 15 comments in this thread…
