Over at Gateway Pundit, mendacious blowhard ‘Midwest Jim’ has decided to spin another tall tale:
The elite media is keeping its distance from Barak’s socialist past and present. His Far Left voting record tells part of his Far Left story and his speeches and early days in New York dot the “i” and cross the “t” in socialist!
Notice that Jimbo doesn’t actually present the tiniest shred of evidence that Obama has anything that resembles a “Far Left voting record”. He merely states it as though it were fact. The capital letters in “Far Left” are a nice touch, too. They are there to make it appear as though Obama’s alleged “Far Left” record is a Matter of Established Fact. Of course, in reality, the capitalized phrase “Far Left” is merely Jimbo-speak for “something with which I want to smear Obama without bothering to produce any actual facts”.
This is what Obama had to say about capitalism adn free enterprise back in March 2006:
“The reason they don’t believe that government has a role in solving national problems is because they think government is the problem,” Obama said to approximately 1,500 people at the Kansas Democratic Party Washington Days convention.
Obama, a Democrat from Illinois, said Bush’s political philosophy consists of giving tax breaks and encouraging “everyone to go buy your own health care, your own retirement and security, your own child care, your own schools, your own private security forces, your own roads, your own levees.
“It’s called the ownership society. In our past there has been another name for it; it’s called social Darwinism. Every man or woman for him or herself,” he said.”
Did you catch it? Jimbo claims that the quotation embodies Obama’s views on “capitalism adn (sic) free enterprise”... when the quoted material in fact has nothing whatever to do with capitalism and free enterprise! Agan, Jimbo demonstrates the basic principle: when you can’t find a good smear, just make it up out of thin air!
To paraphrase what Ed Brayton said earlier today: This isn’t thinking, it’s non-thinking. It’s a convenient shortcut to avoid thinking: Obama = socialist = I don’t have to actually analyze and criticize anything Obama has said or done, I can just say the word “socialist” and I’ve vomited up a nice, baseless ad hominem attack.

Let’s assume, for the sake of argument, all of what you say about Obama is true, Pete.
None of it changes the fact that Jimbo presented no evidence for his claim. Nor does it change the fact that Jimbo claimed the quote was relevant to Obama’s views on capitalism and free enterprise when, in fact, the quote said nothing about either topic.
You may be satisfied with non-sequiturs and mindless smears. I’m not, and I’m not bashful about pointing them out when I encounter them.

On that note, where’s the proof (you know, that concept Pete thinks is so damned valuable) that Obama “loves” partial-borth,m or any, abortion? Does this assfuck understand the difference between loving something and acknowledging its societal value? I think the shit that explodes from blogs like Not-so-sacred Cao’s is abhorrent, but that doesn’t mean I favor squelching it. It’s important to know how many noisy, unreasonable assholes there are out there so we can call attention to them.
