Gotta love it. Jay “rope + tree + ACLU lawyer = pinata” Stephenson is back, making certain everyone knows just how little he knows about the Military Commissions Act of 2006 [PDF text; S 3930 summary].
So Bush signs the bill into law that will allow terrorists to be interrogated harshly…
Jay advertises his ignorance. The bill does much, much more than merely authorize “harsh” interrogation. The bill eliminates the right of habeas corpus for everyone, terrorist suspects and American citizens alike. Anyone that the President deems an ‘enemy combatant’ can be detained indefinitely and without charge.
However, the rest of the ACLU’s whining about “torture” such as shirt grabbing of terrorist scum to get critical info is more along the lines of the ACLU we know and love to hate.
And here’s the crux of the matter: Jay again confirms that he bases his views not on facts and reason, but on ignorance and hatred.
The tough interrogation techniques which were revealed to include things such as belly slaps, loud music, and shirt grabbing are far from torture and have proven to be vital tools in getting information from top terror leaders.
Which ones, Jay?
...sound of crickets…
People caught on the battlefields have no reason to tie up the American courts.
Jay advertises his ignorance again. Two separate investigations, using data published by the Department of Defense, have revealed that fewer than one in ten detainees at Guantanamo are labelled as “al Qaeda fighters” by the DOD, and fewer than one in nine were “caught on the battlefields” by coalition forces.
If there are stupid or ignorant statements to be made about the “war on terror”, we can always count on Jay Stephenson to make them.
