The great thing about the Internet is the endless entertainment it affords us. As a shining example, I give you Andrew ‘Dipshit’ Richardson.
In yet another tour-de-force of gormless burbling, Dipshit cheers the death of the right of habeas corpus and the dawning of the American Age of Torture:
This legislation, although flawed, gives the CIA and military interrogators the tools that they need in order to conduct affective interrogation of high profile detainees.
What is “affective interrogation”, dipshit? Jeee-ZUS, would you kindly learn the English language before you try to make an argument in it?
My disappointment is in the fact water boarding will no longer be permitted under the new guidelines.
Oh, NO! You mean brown people aren’t going to be tortured for your amusement and entertainment any more? Oh, the HORROR! You poor baby! Sit down, Dipshit, and I’ll get you a glass of water and a crying towel.
And by the way, Dipshit — where in these “guidelines” has waterboarding been explicitly prohibited?
But yet, we are forbidden to use this affective mode of pressured interrogation because a few uneducated individuals who have no idea what true torture is have labeled water boarding as torture.
You have no room to label other people as “uneducated”, Mr. “affective mode”. Good Christ, this is what happens when you let submorons near a keyboard…
Here is the truth and if you are an honest person, you will never accept this as the truth.
READ WHAT YOU WRITE BEFORE YOU POST IT, DIPSHIT! Yes, any honest person would never accept what you write as the truth. But then, you aren’t really trying to communicate with honest people, are you, Dipshit?
Using the argument that anything we do to extract information from these detainees will put our troops at greater risk is nothing more fraudulent speculation.
Your argument is itself a fraud, Dipshit, because no one is claiming that “anything we do to extract information… will put our troops at greater risk”. That’s a classic straw man — but we expect no better from you.
Islamic Fascists don’t give a flying fig how we treat our prisoners.
The issue isn’t what Islamic Fascists give a flying fig about, cretin. It’s what Americans should care about — because the provisions of HR 6166 also apply to Americans. Read the law, Dipshit. You will see that any American citizen can be declared an ‘enemy combatant’ and detained indefinitely, with exactly zero recourse.
It’s not just those Terrifying Brown People who are targeted by this, Dipshit. Every American is targeted by this act.
Personally, I don’t think anything should be off the table.
We know, Dipshit. You’ve done a wonderful job of advertising your utter lack of any moral sense whatsoever.
These individuals are known al Qaeda individuals who have been captured in Iraq or Afghanistan engaging in illegal warfare operations.
And here is where you start doing what you do best, Dipshit: lying out your ass. The simple truth is that fewer than one in eight of the Guantanamo detainees are al Qaeda. Who says so? The US Department of Defense says so:
…[I]n early February, a law professor at Seton Hall University, Mark Denbeaux, and his son, Joshua Denbeaux, who together have represented Guantanamo detainees, published a study that also used the Defense Department’s own data, though a somewhat different set. After stripping out the prisoners’ names, along with the supporting memos and transcripts, the Pentagon had publicly released the summary of evidence against every Guantanamo prisoner. Using that larger but less detailed data set, the Denbeaux’s findings echoed Hegland’s: Only 8 percent of detainees at Guantanamo were labeled by the Defense Department as “al Qaeda fighters,” they found, and just 11 percent had been captured “on the battlefield” by coalition forces.
Torture isn’t about getting accurate, useful information. It’s about getting a confession — any confession. Torture is used by states such as Libya to do just this. (Read up on the Tripoli Six, Dipshit.) That’s the kind of country you want the US to become, Dipshit: one that tortures to extract confessions, and to hell with whether the confessions are true or not. You’re a terrified little rat bastard and a moral coward, Andrew Richardson.
I cannot possible express the disgust I have for this country’s so-called leadership any better than John Scalzi did earlier today:
Someone should have stood up for the Constitution and for the moral standing of the United States and its practices. Someone should be up there calling Bush what he is: A tiny man so frightened of the terrorist boogyman that he’s willing to shred our moral standing to keep him away, and so dead-eyed hateful of what it means to be American that he can’t find a way to protect this country without urinating on what it is that makes us great. Merely pounding on a podium for C-SPAN is not sufficient to do this. This bill should have been stopped. It wasn’t.
I’m proud to be an American, but I’m tired of being ashamed of my government. I’m tired of having to count the seconds until this bilious waste of a president is shoved out the door in January of 2009. I’m tired of hoping that some members of the president’s political party might actually put principle over political expedience, particularly when it concerns the Constitution. And I’m tired of waiting for the opposing party to actually grow a goddamned spine and become an opposing party. I’m tired of wondering why the people we elect to lead us don’t seem to actually understand what it means to be American, and to be moral, and to do what it right for us. And I’m tired of having to look so hard for genuine leadership as opposed to the sham idiot version we have now. I feel like Diogenes, and I’m coming up short.
I’m tired of being led by moral cowards. I want better for myself, and for my country.

Mr. Meathead,
Upon reading your post, I found myself both becoming rather angered and laughing to myself about your total lack of tact, lack of intelligence, and lack of ability to well argue a point. Generally if you’re going to argue another’s opinion about something you need to have facts and evidence to prove your own theory/opinion. Too bad your post is missing these aforementioned items and then makes up for it by showing your total ignorance and ability to be a pompous ass. I considered myself a liberal….until I became better educated and I advise you do the same since you seem to be incapable of backing your own counterattack with proof of what you’re saying. You have no argument here. All you’ve done in this post is call Mr. Richardson a “dipshit.” Any dumbass can say such a thing…..although I suppose this would explain why you did so. Good luck on all of your future posts and actually gaining the ability to carry on a good argument that actually says something other than repeating all that another has said.

Read for comprehension, FL. It’s very clear that Dipshit Richardson is lying about the connection between the detainees at Guantanamo and al Qaeda — and I provided the facts that you’ve claimed are missing.

Well, here’s an interesting fact. Regardless of what the language of the bill allowed, Bush added a signing statement saying he ultimately gets to decide what the Geneva Conventions mean and who they apply to. So basically waterboarding and anything else would be permitted by the legislation as Bush interprets it.
By the way, intelligence experts agree that all of these sadistic torture tactics are only good for forcing false confessions, whereas effective interrogation involves winning the prisoner over with persuasion and the Stockholm syndrome. Not that it matters, because a lot of these detainees were obtained on rumors and arrested on the thinnest pretense. Their value as intelligence assetts is nil.
