Heidi at ‘Euphoric Reality’ demonstrates the moral barrenness of the radical right as she attempts to justify the deaths of dozens of civilians in the Qana airstrike:
Call me a cold-hearted bitch, but I feel nothing. Why? … Because the people are lying. Hezbollah is in and among the civilians of the area. The citizens know exactly who they are.Let’s be real clear what Heidi is claiming here:
…
So, no. I really don’t feel bad. I possibly feel a twinge of sadness for those poor kids, who lost their lives because all the adults around them were Muslim morons, and no one could be bothered to safeguard their lives. But those poor kids never really had a chance in life anyway.
- She knows the villagers were liars. How does she know? She just does! And because they were liars, they deserved to die. Even the children.
- She knows the children’s lives would have been worthless. How does she know? She just does! She sees the future! Because one self-described cold-hearted bitch sitting safe in Texas has these amazing powers, she gets to decide that children half a world away deserved to die.
When a commenter calls her on it, Heidi provides the be-all and end-all of proof in her little fantasy world:
…everyone KNOWS that Hezbollah – as all terrorists – hide behind women and children…Which, naturally, is all the proof one needs that Qana was simply crawling with Hezbollah. Everybody KNOWS! If Heidi puts it in CAPITAL LETTERS, then it MUST BE TRUE! And that’s why it’s perfectly acceptable to Heidi that nearly three dozen children were killed in an instant.
Answer this, cold-hearted bitch: Is there any maximum number of Lebanese civilians after which you would agree that too many civilians would have been killed to “get” Hezbollah? Would it be acceptable to you to kill the entire civilian population of Lebanon in an attempt to wipe out Hezbollah? Is there any number of dead Muslim children that would be too many dead Muslim children in your eyes? Are there any Muslim children whose lives are worth anything in your eyes?
Juan Coles notes that:
The Israelis say they had pamphleted the region demanding that all civilians leave, and high Israeli officials have openly said that anyone who remains is fair game (low civilianity index, and maybe low humanianity index, too). The Israelis don’t say, however, how desperately poor hardscrabble farmers including the aged and infirm and children are supposed to travel to Beirut over the roads and bridges that the Israelis have bombed out, and on what they are supposed to live when they get there. Can you explain how the Lebanese civilians who died were supposed to escape, heartless bitch?
Make no mistake: Heidi is simply one of many ‘patriotic’ Americans who have decided that the ‘war on terror’ requires the abandonment of every moral precept that governs civilized society. Such people have allowed themselves to be so panicked by the thought of a terrorist attack that they see nothing wrong with any number of civilian casualties, just as long as someone ‘gets’ the terrorists. Of course, if the attempt to get the terrorists fails, those civilians are still dead.
That’s OK, though. They were just Muslim children, and they never really had a chance in life anyway. Heidi says so.

buddy don
What’s odd is that according to the CIA world fact book (https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/le.html#People), almost 4 in 10 Lebanese civilians are Christian:
“Religion: Muslim 59.7% (Shi’a, Sunni, Druze, Isma’ilite, Alawite or Nusayri), Christian 39% (Maronite Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Melkite Catholic, Armenian Orthodox, Syrian Catholic, Armenian Catholic, Syrian Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Chaldean, Assyrian, Copt, Protestant), other 1.3%”
Are Christians also fair game in this cruel form of collateral damage? Do they also have no future? How many of them can be killed without this “cold hearted bitch” feeling anything?

Well, see, BD, Heidi’s clairvoyant powers allow her to sit in Houston and divine that the civilians killed by the Qana airstrike were, every one of them, “Muslim morons” (her words). So it’s no problem for her to see them die — none whatsoever.

Bill from Dover
Al Qaeda; tearists.
Islamofascists; tearists
Hamas; tearists.
Iraqi insurgents; tearists.
Iraqi civil war opponents: tearists.
Muslims; tearists
Hezbollah; tearists.
Anybody in disagreement with the Bush administration; tearists.
Hmmm. I think I see Heidi’s problem.
I wonder which party she will vote for to keep her safe this November?
